Antonio's paintings are mostly inspired by the Kerry and Mayo landscapes where he has lived for a number of years. Departing from an interest in man-made environments (dwellings, forestry, farmland), the places depicted are not of particular or real locations, but rather of a mixture of photographic records, sketches in situ, and imagined places, resulting in a personal perception or our natural surroundings.
Antonio has been an artist in residence and he Custom House Studios in Westport and the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ballycastle, Co. Mayo; Belmont Mill Studios in Co. Offaly; and the Cill Rialaig Project in Ballinskelligs, Co. Kerry.
He currently lives in north Co. Cork, where he runs a ceramic studio at the foothills of the Ballyhoura mountains.
